Where is My Email Going?

All users (Cal Poly faculty, staff, and students) login to PolyLearn through the My CalPoly Portal (http://my.calpoly.edu).

The PolyLearn system will send emails to your Cal Poly email addres (@calpoly.edu). If you do not read Cal Poly email, you will not get the important messages your instructors are emailing you.

How to Forward my Cal Poly Email

You can forward Cal Poly email to any other email account, like Google (@gmail.com).

  1. URL http://my.calpoly.edu
  2. Type your Cal Poly Username and Password in the top left sign-in box. Username is your Cal Poly email address (dsmith@calpoly.edu), and your Central UNIX password.
  3. Click on the Login button.
  4. Click on the Personal Info tab.
  5. In the Personal Info block, click on the Edit link on the right of Email Address.
  6. Type in your email address.
  7. Click on the Update button.

Edit PolyLearn Profile > Messages

You can modify which PolyLearn tools email you messages.

  1. From the PolyLearn course, click on your name in the upper right corner.
  2. In the User details box, click on the Edit profile link.
  3. In the Breadcrumbs, click on the Preferences link.
  4. Click on the Messaging link.
    Make sure that the [ ] email box is checked so you will receive emails from these tools.
  5. Scroll to the bottom of the page and click on the Save changes button.

Subscribe to a Forum

The Announcement forum should automatically subscribe you and send you emails. But if you are not getting emails from a forum, you may need to subscribe.

  1. Click on the Forum activity.
  2. To subscribe to the whole forum (all post and replies in that forum).
    1. Under the Administration block, click on the subscribe to this forum link.
  3. To subscribe to a post or reply.
    1. Within the the forum, top right, click the Subscribe link.
