Workshop: Introduction to the Gradebook - 1 hour

PolyLearn Moodle’s Gradebook provides a central location where students’ grades can be stored and displayed via a computer browser such as Firefox, Safari or Chrome. Instructors can keep track of their students’ progress within the Gradebook and choose which set of grades students are allowed to view. If you choose to use the Gradebook, students can only see their own personal grades in the Gradebook and keep track of their progress in the course. This workshop will cover the basics of the PolyLearn Moodle Gradebook such as setting up preferences, adding and assigning grade categories, manually adding and editing grades, downloading assignment submissions from the Gradebook, exporting/importing grades, and weighting your Gradebook with the simple weighted mean option.

Note: There are no computers in the Library 35-202a classroom. Please bring your own laptop.

  • You will need to make sure your laptop has the ability to login to the Portal and PolyLearn as well as use the campus wifi before the class begins. If you need help with this, please contact the Service Desk at 756-7000.

Workshop: Formative Assessments in PolyLearn

In this workshop, we will be talking about tools that can be used in PolyLearn to provide multiple formative assessments throughout the quarter. A formative assessment is a low point evaluation, given often to students to allow the student and yourself to determine what the students know or don't know. In PolyLearn, graded activities such as Quizzes, Forums, Workshops, Assignments, and Lessons can be created and used as early as the first week of class.

Note: This is a hands-on workshop located in the Library's computer lab 35-216b PC lab.

  • Please bring your own laptop if you prefer a Mac or just want to work from your own computer. You will need to make sure your laptop has the ability to login to the Portal and PolyLearn as well as use the campus wifi before the class begins. If you need help with this, please contact the Service Desk at 756-7000.

Workshop: PolyLearn Tips to Make Your Life Easier

In this workshop, we will look at tools in PolyLearn that can save you time when creating course materials and grading. The PolyLearn system allows you to copy individual activities between sections, activity completion tools allow you to see what students have and have not completed, sections can be merged into one, and course design elements can be duplicated and reused throughout the course.

Note:This is a hands-on workshop located in the Library's computer lab 35-216b PC lab.
